About the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors

Founded in 1890 as The National Association of Life Underwriters (NALU), NAIFA is the only organization serving and representing insurance and financial advisors regardless of the products they sell or the focus of their practice. NAIFA is your professional association, and its focus is to help protect your business, help you grow your business and promote ethical business conduct.

NAIFA Members are: Insurance agents, Financial Advisors, Multiline Agents, Health Insurance and Employee Benefits Specialists, Both Captive and Independent Advisors, New to the Business, Industry Leaders and Everyone in Between.

What is NAIFA?

NAIFA is the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors, comprised of both state and local associations representing the interests of approximately 200,000 financial professionals and their associates nationwide. NAIFA members focus their practices on life insurance and annuities, health insurance and employee benefits, multi-line, and financial advising and investments. The Association's mission is to advocate for a positive legislative and regulatory environment, enhance business and professional skills, and promote the ethical conduct of its members.

With a focus on building an extensive, diverse network of experience and resources, we offer new, exciting events and programs relevant to current trends. We’re committed to enriching our industry and our community, and we know we can’t do it without the generous support of our corporate partners.

NAIFA's Young Advisors Team (YAT) is for members who are 40 years of age and under or within their first five years in the industry. YAT was created to ensure that young and new advisors receive the vital tools, resources, and networks necessary to succeed in the financial services industry.


The Insurance and Financial Advisors Political Action Committee (IFAPAC) 


NAIFA is proud to announce a partnership with the College for Financial Planning to create a new, dynamic and interactive curriculum for NAIFA’s Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow ℠ (LUTCF®) designation.

 IFAPAC’s goal is to help the associations advance the legislative and regulatory interests of the members of NAIFA. While any U.S. citizen can contribute to IFAPAC, only members of local NAIFA associations may be solicited to do so. Contributions must be voluntary. Contributions are not tax deductible for federal income tax purposes.
